No Heat

My heater last week stopped working and then during driving, it came back on. It did this once again a few days later and came back on. Finally the heater has totally stopped working altogether. I thought it might have been associated with wet conditions but it has been dry for a few days now and it still does not go on. Any ideas?

There is no air, heat or A/C. I wiggled every wire that I could see under the glove box but I really don't know what I'm looking for.

next might want to remove the blower motor and bench test it by jumping 12v striaght to it. If nothing happens you found your problem.

Also a little heads up on bnaylor's behalf, Its always better to post your year and motor/ miles of vehicle. Might be a good idea to post it so by the time one of our knowledgable mechanics comes by, they dont hve to request it.

Welcome to AF

The above quote still doesn't answer the first responders question directly. What exactly is the issue? Does the blower motor not circulate any air? Did it start by losing lower speeds first then progress to the point where you have none? Does the mode switch not properly select vent/defrost/floor, etc...?

Your profile shows you own a 2001 Grand Prix, but you don't indicate what engine (3.1, 3.8, 3.8 S/C), trim level (SE, GT, GTP), or whether you have manual or auto climate control A/C. A bit more information will help us help you, as each specific item above changes the approach to resolving your issue.

the problem is most likely with the resistor. Behind the glove box is a 2"x3" black box, my 01 gtp is held on with 3 screws with a connection both in the front and back. AC delco part number is 89019101. this is a common problem with the wide body GP

The car is a 3.8, GT, automatic with climate control and 73,000 miles on it.(sorry for not putting that in at first) The blower is not working at all on any setting. I changed the resistor out two years ago so I'm going to go back in there and make sure it's still connected properly. While the blower motor is out I'll test out tblake's idea. Thanks.

UPDATE:

I took the blower motor out and did the bench test and it doesn't budge. All the connections look good underneath but it is a little bit rusty on some of the metal areas, including the blower moter itself. Is this normal?

if the blower motor doesnt turn with 12volts applied directly to it, It needs to be replaced. Make sure you stick with a genuine AC delco replacement.

I change the blower motor out and the heat is fixed. Thank you all.
