Until recently I thought a Pontiac GTP meant you had a Gran Prix with a Super Charger vs. a basic GT etc. I was online and wanting to get a value of my vehicle and it seem to put it in two different categorys. GTP and GTP super turbo.

I have a 2000 Pontiac GTP and it does have a supercharger.

Any thoughts I would appreciate it. Here is my vin just in case.

Basically::
GTP's have a belt driven air compressor (supercharger) while a turbocharger is an exhaust-driven air compressor. Both do the same thing, compresses the air /fuel into the intake manifold for a bigger explosion in the cylinder (power). As I recall the turbo is more efficient than the supercharger and produces more HP at the crank.

Where was this or what web site? :screwy:

There is no such thing as a GTP super turbo. All '97-'03 GTPs have the L67 SC VIN "1" engine and this includes the GTX model that was made.

Thank you. This helps clear the air a little.

I was on a website looking at a dealership for another car. They had a link for Black book to see what my car was worth. This is where they listed the two different models. But I have to ask... What is the difference for the GTX now. I don't think I have heard of this one either.

Thanks

The GTX model was a limited-production option built for Pontiac by SLP Engineering based on the GTP. Some of the options in the package in addition to the GTX badging was a Ram Air Hood/Intake System and SLP exhaust system.

GTX stands for Grand Touring EXperimental.

One of our regular members who passed away had one.

Thank you for the info. This is exactly how my car looks with the exception of the ram hood, badging, exhaust etc. But it is black, sunroof wheels etc.

Pretty kewl looking car here.
