Here is my situation. I just swapped a JDM H22A in my 1997 Accord. The engine has an internal coil and it came with a P13 ECU. I used a conversion harness for wiring. My person I got the engine from said that it is a 1996 H22. Was he correct? To my knowledge, 1996+ cars are OBDII. This so called 1996 that I have in my car came with a OBDI (P13) ECU. Is it different in Japan, is my engine really a 1995, or can you just slap a OBDI computer on a OBDII engine w/o problems?

it's not a 96 motor.

the ecm plugs are different on 96+ OBDII Hondas

Just look at the head, take the heat shield off and you will see the year stamped on the head, go by that.

I am getting CELs for my O2 sensor and EGR lift sensor. The codes are 41 and 12 respectively. I checked both sensor and its my 2nd O2 sensor that isn't working. Since the OBDI Prelude only uses one )2 sensor, then my second one shouldn't be read. What's the deal with that?

OBD1 has different plugs than OBD2 yet that has been known to vary. P13 ECU's come in different OBD versions as well. You might have a civic/integra P13. It will work but if it wasn't the original ECU for your particular motor JDM/USDM/EDM, there are sometimes problems.

I thought that the P13 only comes in the JDM 1993 H22

So what ECU do the 1992, 1994, 1995, and 1996 JDM Preludes have?

I have a 94 JDM H22A and it came w/ a P13 ECU. I believe that ALL H22's (either OBD I or II) run on the P13 ECU.

Correct me if I'm wrong...................

First,
Reply for Tony,
P13 ECU (92-95) Prelude OBD-1
P14 ECU (96-01) Prelude OBD-2
This is the norm. There are exceptions.

Second,
Thread Continuation,

One other question, can you get the block serial number? I need that to find out what car your motor came out of. Preludes weren't the only car that had H22A's in them and Japan wasn't the only market for these cars as well.

Like I stated earlier, you might have a '96 H22A with a P13 ECU.

If the car isn't being used on a daily basis, take a photo of the block stampings and the motor itself and the ECU (markings must be clearly readable).

I have a 97 Prelude P14 ECU going out to get modifiied by Hondata tomorrow. A couple of my friends and myself all have P13's in our Preludes (92-96 F22/H23/H22A/H22B). Some of my prelude friends and customers have P14's in their Preludes (96+)
