I am interested in putting a tach in my 92 gmc sierra 5.7 manual,my question is first of all how difficult is it to install, and what should I look for.I am not interested in the 200.00 range. something moderate maybe up to 100.00,do I need mechanical or electric. Thanks for any info

You can swap in a GM instrutment cluster that has a tach. I did that to my 92. I found one selling on ebay for $50 and bought it. Its easy, just pull to the old one and install the new one, nothing else has to be done. You can swap in your odometer easily.

Just make sure its this style, other won't fit. 92-93 is safe, but a diesel will not work for gas and vice versa.

Here is one selling on ebay now

I would like to find one that is from a manual trans. not from a automatic.I couldnt find one, that why I was going to install aftermarket Tach.

I have never seen a manual trans gauge cluster but I have been told they only have a piece of rigid black tape covering the shift window. A stand alone tach would not look good in my opinion.

my error my gauge cluster has the automatic cut out for that option.yea black tape will work fine
