How long do Zero Paints stay?

I searched for this but found spray paint and bottle answers. I bought a lot of Zero Paint a bit back and was curious of anything I might need to do to store it? They are in the bottles they came in, and then in a ziploc. As I am waiting to get a compressor they are just sitting. Do these paints evaporate at all (the chemicals)? Will they harden or thicken up? If they do what thinner could I use? I didn't order the Zero thinner cause they only had 1000ml at the time. Is there anything stateside to thin the same way? They are automotive lacquers and they should be OK for a very long time as long as the bottles are perfectly closed. I have had automotive paints for years and they stay as the first day they were mixed.

Dang I remember reading that now, lol. Well I know now.

What thinners would I add then if they needed it? I guess this will work as the airbrush cleaner as well?!

Both TheSaint111 and I had recent experience on our DBR9s with Zero paints from over a year ago in generation 1 bottles. Both of us found quite severe evaporation.

Steve offered to send me a replacement bottle but unfortunately both it and my order have disappeared into the 4th dimension known as "lost parcels".

Because I couldn't wait any longer, I decided to re-dilute it with Gunze Mr. Color Thinners. It worked a treat. You can see the results in my DBR9 thread - IMHO absolutely great paint.

As far as I know, Dennis also re-thinned his paint (don't know what with) and also it sprayed just fine.

BTW the bottle was stored for the previous year in 2 ziplocka bags and it still evaporated.

Thanks Klutz, but what can I use stateside that will work like Gunze? I will eventually need a thinner anyway, but what can I get here in Colorado? Should l be looking for something specific like automotive thinners, or........?

Where in Colorado are you?

Colpar hobbies in Aurora and Lakewood stock Mr. Color thinner as well as other Gunze products.

Regular old laquer thinner you can get at Home Depot, Lowes, Ace, etc also works fine.

I've got some Zero paints and have used both Mr. Color and LT with no issues.

IMO yes.

IIRC Steve mentions on his site to use cellulose thinners (but check hat out to be sure).

I used Gunze because I happen to like that thinner and I have it to hand but you can use whatever you have available.

If you are really worried, just order a bottle of Steve's Zero thinners next time you make an order there - then you can be sure of compatibility.
