2007 Aveo Sedan's Quality

Looking at getting a new car that will become my sons car for college. Basically, I will drive the car (70+ miles a day) till August of '08 then he takes it to college.

It is a '07 Sedan LS, with cruise, 5 speed, A/C, CD. How have these been holding up?

Edmonds.com rates this car higher than a Cobalt Coupe(satisfaction) and Highway Safety rates this car better (safety) than a Cobalt Coupe.

My other options are the Cobalt Coupe LS and Focus ZX3. Both of these have larger rebates but the Aveo comes out about $1000 cheaper. (after rebates and similar equipment)

Whatcha' Think? Any suggestions would be appreciated.:popcorn:

well i personally am overall happy with my 06 aveo. basically my opinion is that a car will last as long as you want it too. so if you beat the crap out of it, it aint gonna hold long and vice versa. but the 1.6l in the aveo is an amazingly strong motor. if you arent lookin for any power and just want economy then this car is perfect. on another forum i am on, a guy took his aveo on a road trip and got 51 mpg! hope this helps a lil.

I wouldnt say its the best but its not bad at all. I keep having problems with my rear drums warping. I bought it new and im puting about 1k miles a month and its holding up good. I average about 25mpg when im driving to and from work on the highways that are nothing but hills. But when I trek up to LA on the flat highways I easily get 30 mpg. its comfortable and has good pick up for a 1.6l Overall its a good car. I got the auto LT. Oh and it has a decent sound system.

Thanks guys! I hate buying new cars, never can decide which one. Now I am leaning towards a Cobalt. The Ford Dealer made me mad, so no Focus!!!

I recommend the aveo over the cobalt. I rented a cobalt recently and in my opinion the aveo got it beat in just about everything. I prefer the aveo hatchback. The aveo got everything you need at the right price. Forget about ford. They are going out of business anyway.

hhhhmmm yeh, cobalts are overrated. you can get pretty much the same thing in an aveo as u would a cobalt. everything but the power. but the aveo has enough pick and go to keep you happy and lots of lil things to make u more happy. *ahem* stock mp3 cd player*ahem* just to name one of a few things.
