Random no start rough idle 02 Grandam

Ok, so I know you have heard this before and I have dug around but my symptoms are a bit different. I get the random no start, could crank 2times to sitting around for 10 minutes cranking like crazy and then get a start,, the fuel pump never primes when it wont start, it was really intermittant but now its just annoying me on a somewhat daily basis.
I had my car an 02 grandam 68,000 miles, maintained very well, in the dealer in august they found a tsb for a washer on some wire, they did it, the car was fine until about a week ago and now I get the no start once a day, never the same time twice.

I have also gotten a rough idle here and there, but seems to have rectified itself, I put some lucas fuel and upper engine cleaner in it, the no start has continued. I dont have the flashing security light problem, the 10 minute fix isnt needed.

I took to the dealer today and dropped off for diagnostics, naturally the mechanic in the office said it sounds like the tumbler and module are bad, BUT I told them I dont have the flashing security light issue, and have not ever had it lights are solid when key is turned to on position and all shut off .

Anywho, I am hoping its injectors or fuel pump as that is covered under my extended warranty and the ignition stuff isnt.

THe question I have, instead of paying close to $500 to get the passlock crap fixed, is it cheaper to just get an aftermarket remote start with bypass unit installed and will it work to keep the passlock disabled if that is indeed my issue.

Thanks, just wanted to see if anyone has done this, or if anyone with aftermarket alarm or remote start has even had the passlock issue.

appreciate your input.

Leigh

The install of a rs won't help your issues. Many of the rs bypasses "copy" the security code each time you start it with your key so if it messes up then you try to rs it, it'll send the wrong code. Also, a bad PKII system won't cause it to run rough. Sure sounds like a bad fuel pump to me.

With passlock issues you dont always get a security light on, its hit or miss on that.
The dealer has the right tools to diagnose your problem.

too me it does sound like a weak or bad fuel pump.
Has the fuel filter ever been changed ?
