I have a 1991 APV. The shop tells me that i need a new ignition module. Well they are only prety sure that is what the problem is. They want to charge me $275 to do it. How hard is it to do my self. I am kind of a novice. Also I noticed that I can spend between $33 and $100 on the same ignition module, just a diffrent brand. Does it matter which one i buy? The van has 210,000 miles on it. Thanks.

THis is what it looks like (enlarged here) for your 3.1 http://www.avigex.ca/xport/ignitionmodule31.gif Two screws, plug out, plug in.
18 months ago I bought mine for my 3.8 new on ebay at 1/3 the price I would have paid locally. Absolutely similar to the original on my car.

Fairly easy job if your a mechanical type. BUT save yourself some possible problems get the Delco module. Most Advance stores have them available, if not a dealer will have it.

I own a 1994 Lumina APV 3.1L and I changed the Ignition Module. It isn't that hard just tight space to work in. Unfurtunatly it wasn't the module it was the timing chain, so make sure that it is the module you don't want to spend money on something that won't fix the problem. I just went through all this so I know.
