'92 Ranger Brake Caliper

I'm having trouble getting the caliper off of my '92 Ranger. I've heard that I need a C clamp to loosen the pads after removing the two bolts but am not sure what size and how to place it, and if I'll have the same problem when putting the caliper with the pads back on. Thanks for any help.
