Vacuum Line Removal

Has anybody done this? If you remove all of the vacuum lines except a few chosen ones, do you get a CEL?
http://web.archive.org/web/20040621102025/www.taboospeedshop.com/emissions.htm
I found this on Tuners along w/ this one (idk if I'm suppose to be posting this one since it is a link to Tuners, if I'm not suppose to then a Mod can just delete the link)
http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/articles-miscellaneous/198327-taboo-speed-shop-vacuum-diagram-removal-1g-2g.html#post1650860

I've been thinking about doing it, any ideas?

Im sure you would. All the emisions vac. lines are removed. I would be willing to be you would get one. But does it really matter? Mine stays on all the time bc of the emissions being removed but it doesn't bother me.

Ned, 1980 posts is about 1975 too many to be posting every new thread you have in the main (O/T) forum. I realize this is a greyish area thread, but it sure as hell is not a OT thread either. Seriously dude, use the subforums.

I've done this on my Talon and yes, you will get a CEL, more than one I think.

I don't see how this thread fits into the performance subforum since it does nothing to improve the performance of our cars. IF it should go into any subforum, it should go into the appearance subforum, o wait we don't have one. The reason for removing all the vacuum lines is to make the engine bay look better and to simplify things a bit, so why does it matter where I put this thread because the only sub I can see it going into is the main OT area.

There is no way to pass inspection w/ a CEL so why would doing this make any sense?

SilvrEclipse

Because some of us dont have inspection

ned032002
11-18-2007, 11:27 PM
That would be sweet, you mean that some states don't even do inspections?

SilvrEclipse

Hell no. They dont do anything.

So what vacuum lines can I remove w/ out throwing a CEL?

SilvrEclipse

Why not just remove all of them and then put them back when you have inspection. That only like once a yr or something right?

Basically when you install a SMIM, you are deleting most if not all of the lines in that link.

It may not have to with making the car faster or more powerful, but it does have something to do with how the car works or performs. Regardless, please use your best judgement, I have enought noobie threads to move without having to clean up after some of our valued OG's as well. Thank you Nedwin :smooch:

But yeah, MN doesnt have any inspections at all. If we did, the Talon would be FUCKED. :smokin:

Not necessarily. Where I'm from anything 95 and older, doesnt matter.

Those SMIM look sweet and they are a really give you a big bang for your buck.

So what lines can I remove w/ out getting a CEL?

I had removed all the lines on my 91 GSX, except the one that runs to the AFPR, bov, etc. I never got a cel. I also removed all those stupid EVAP relays.

What exactly do they do when they inspect it, do they plug into the car to see if you have any CEL's, or do they just check the dash light? If they just check the light, just disconnect the damn bulb. No inspections in ND either, so this is all new to me.

They plug the machine into the diagnostic port under the dash.

D, did you do the same thing that is shown in the second pic on that Taboo Speed Shop site?

So what happens if the obd port doesn't happen to work? :naughty:

I don't want a CEL, but I want to remove as many vacuum lines as possible.

Yep that is exactly what I did.

Except I ran the MBC line like normal, and didn't tie into the BOV line.

What can I use to block off the nipples where the lines have been removed? I know "OLD THREAD" but o well it's mine anyway.

sorry for the thread jack but:

i got F-ed on my inspection because my Eprom ECU isnt reading for the cat, which is why all you guys with link never got a cell because the 95 computer isnt monitering the actually readings of the rear o2... it just checks if its their, anyway, i had the cat on the car, drove it for about 500 miles befor heading to the inspection place, and no cell, OBD II port fully functional... failed emissions! after arguing with the guy for 10-15 mins about what kind of computer i had in it! (LIKE HE KNEW MORE ABOUT MY CAR THEN ME!!!) he looked under the car, saw the cat, did a sniffer and gave me a sticker... he wrote 1995 in the year model though... but anyway... shit pisses me off! i mean, you dont even know the shit that is on the road in texas, and they are going to bitch at ME!?!?! drove home from inspection and ripped the cat back off... cant get over hearing the turbo whistle @ low RPMs from the muffler... lol
