i have 1997 park avenue that the motor hydrolocked, i went to the junk yard and picked up a motor out of a 2005 chevy impala, the guy told me that this motor would work, so i put this motor in and i swaped the flywheel, throttle body, fuel rail and all the sensors except for cam, crank, and harmonic balancer. i went to fire the motor and it won't start, it seems like the timing is off, any ideas? i have spark and fuel, and the guy at the junk said that the motor ran, i'm at a loss. I checked the part numbers for the cam, crank, and harmonic balancer are the same for both motors. Any help would be aprreciated.

You may have fuel pressure but are the injectors working? Maybe you could spray a little fuel in the intake and see if it fires up.

Isn't the 3800 from a 2005 a Series III? I know the 1997 is a Series II so maybe there are more differences that you should be aware of.

Thank you all for replying, i got it running, the cam sensor was different on the new motor so i swaped the cam sensors and it fired up.
