Before I screw up my model....I NEED HELP

I've appreciated all of the useful information on AF threads, Primera mans awesome tutorial on polishing, and of course everyone who has helped me take my paints to the next level.....you guys rock!

I need some expertise again!!!!

I painted my model, used micro mesh to polish up the paint and used Tamiya compounds to finish to shine it up even more.

I need to put some decals on next and am worried about adhesions problems occuring because I know the Tamiya compounds have silicone in them.

Also, I want to clear over the decals to hide the lines.

My questions are:

Can I use decals over Tamiya compounds or does the model need to be washed first?

How should I prep the model before clearing it? I've read and experienced, unfortunately, fisheyes due to using compounds, then adding another layer of paint.

If you used the compounds they should not develop too much of a layer that would prevent decal adhesion. You didn't mention that you waxed it. I think you will be fine if you wash the bod with mild soapy water, apply your decals, and then use the clear very carefully as I am sure you have heard about TS-13. If you go this route again in the future I wouldn't use compounds on the body until after the clear is on. I usually go to 3-4,000 before clearing. This is me though. The clear (if laid properly) will be affecting what your overall shine looks like, not what the shine was underneath it.

yeah, I have heard much about TS-13 and the decal debate. I didn't wax the model, and I did take your advice and washed it thoroughly and dried it. I also put it in the dehydrator to MAKE SURE any water was out of the crevices, as I've learned the hard way on that one. lol
