06 clutch adjustment

Thanks to the cheezy plastic clutch pedal there is so much flex that the clutch won't completely disengage unless I force it to the right about an inch as I depress it. Shifting is noisy and difficult.

I have not found any means of adjusting the pedal for more travel. Is this even possible?

Shouldn't that be covered by the warantee? I might be wrong, but I thought you get 2 years.

3 years, 36,000 miles on the 2006.

I requested they look at it each of the four times it's been in for failed brake lights. They seem more interested in brushing it off until the warantee expires.

The nearest competent dealer is an hour away. Thus I am stuck fixing it myself.

FWIW I was able to improve the clutch action by grinding off the bottom of the pedal to get more travel. There was a rib of plastic behind the pedal that hit the firewall before the clutch disengaged. It's a makeshift patch but then the pedal was a makeshift design to begin with.

Hello ,did you replace the pedal ass, and did that fix ur problem . I have a 2006 chevy truck doing the same thing ! You hold the pedal to the floor a little to the right and the clutch works fine . Thanks....

The problem has many contributing factors. First, there is no way to adjust the clutch pedal. It and the master cylinder are all plastic and nothing adjusts.

Second, the pedal hits the wheel well as you depress it. That is why nudging it to the right helps with disengagement - it gets around the wheel well and down to the floor.

Third, being plastic, the pedal arm bends under load such that master cylinder stroke is less than it would be if the pedal was rigid. This problem gets worse as cab temperature increases because the pedal gets softer.

Finally, like the failing tail lamps, GM has probably been aware of the problem from the beginning. There have been national recalls, lawsuits, and who knows how many rear end collisions from failing tail lights going back at least ten years. They don't care.

The fifth time the tail lights went out nearly caused a serious accident with a school bus picking up children. All Pro Chevrolet (Lagrange, GA) wouldn't even return my calls at that point. I had to fix it myself.

I parked my 06 Silverado for a year trying to sell it. Finally got less than a third of what I paid for what was still basically a new vehicle.

All I can offer you is my sympathy. That's more than you will get from Chevrolet.
