I have a 2000 4runner with the 2.7 4cyl that just hit 100k. I was planning on doing the spark plug change on my own. Now, i'm used to working on a jeep 258 where i can get to the plugs easy, but i gotta tell ya, with this distributorless ingnition system i dont even know where to start. Is this easier just to send the darn thing to the shop, or is there an easy way of removing all the ignition and air intake components from directly above the plugs....

thanks....

Welcome to the AF!

See pages EM-34 (I believe only steps 3 and 4) and EM-39 (Steps 22 and 23) of the 4-Cylinder engine portion of the 2003 Tacoma manual stickied at the top of this forum (see link below). Once you have done it, it is not as difficult as it appears. Forget any portions of the manual that are not necessary to access the head cover. The instructions are for removing the head and happen to include removing the components you need to remove to change the plugs.

Use NGK or Denso plugs.
