Would it be worthwile to get all new pulleys instead of just a new UDP?

UDP would give you the most gain. The others you wouldn't even notice a difference.

What do you mean UDP? Underweight Drive Pullyes?

under-drive pulley. As in its smaller and under-drives the accessories, freeing up power.

UDP are also lighter. My stock harmonic balence pulley weighed about 7lbs. My aluminum UDP weighed a like 1.7lbs.

You took off the harmonic balancer?

That would be what the UDP replaces. So yes I did.

So there really is a big difference if you get a full set. What about voltage drop?

I wouldn't spend the money on a full set. Just the crank pulley is all thats needed. I doubt the others will give you any power. You should gain a few whp with a UDP.

Oh I wasn't sure if on your car the harmonic balancer was made onto the pully or not. Some cars, like our ol' Z28 Cam, have the harmonic balancer and crank pulley as two seperate pieces that bolt together. We put on an UDP on this car and keep the stock balancer as well.

But yea, your car has a one piece pulley and balancer, so you done away with the harmonic balancer....is that a good idea? On my eclipse I took the balance shafts out but kept the harmonic balancer. My honda doesnt have balance shafts or a harmonic balancer...:uhoh:

I have "heard" that it can wear bearing out prematurely or even snap a crank. All of this info was hear-say and there was no evidence to back it up. I have never seen any evidence that removing the harmonic balence has caused a motor to fail. The UDP is machined out of aluminum so it should be balenced as is. It not a bad idea to check the balence on it before you put it on just to make sure its not off real bad. Thats the only thing I could see causing problems.

Yea I see what your saying. I was going to put one on my eclipse but It just doesnt seem like a good idea, especially since I took the balance shafts out, it vibrates bad enough already.

I've never heard of anyone having trouble switching to a UDP. It would have to be way out of balance to cause any real damage, and it would vibrate like a BITCH. I think it's worth it for the power gain you get.
