car dies when it shifts

my contour is about to head on over to the scrap pile if i cant get this one figured out real quick. it started of missing on 2 of its 4 cylinders...ok got that fixed...and actually today it started missing on one...but the REAL problem is when it shifts into third it is just died...thats is...no shuttering, no anything, its just dead....any ideas?
