Just thought I would let you know this. I have 2000 ext cab 4x4. The other day I hit the brakes and they went to the floor. Got it home and found the problem. The E brake cable that runs from the left to the right rear wheel has a clip that holds it up on the rear axle. The clip broke and the cable was laying on the left brake line next to the block on the axle that feeds the brake lines for both wheels. Over the years it just wore into the line. I'm a retired mechanic and do all my own work and this is something that is hard to see unless your looking for it. The brakes on this truck have sucked since I have owned it so I might have to take it in and have them bleed it with the scan tool. What a joke.

The four wheel disc brakes on my 2000 ext cab sucked from day one..my 2005 brakes have drums in the back but the truck still stops much-much better.

I think that's why they went back with drums. I tow a bobcat sometimes and I have to take it slow as if somebody pulled out in front of me there is no way I could stop. I talk to a friend of mine today and he bought back in 2000 a new GMC that they took back under the lemon law as he had it in so many times for the brakes that they could not fix. I wrote about that E cable as I cant believe I'm the only one with that problem. Its easy to see just kneel down in back and if you see that cable laying on the brake line get it repair soon.
