'97 DOHC won't idle

New guy here. I searched thru this forum and found the likely culprit-the idle air control sensor/valve. Does anyone know of a reliable test to confirm that it is bad? Also, the engine will run with the P.C.V. valve disconnected, but kill right away when it is plugged back in. Does that change anything??? Thanx in advance.

maybe you should change your PCV valve and see if that makes a difference. maybe your air filter is clogged?

There may be a way to check the action of the idle air control valve listed in the Chrysler Service Manual, but I dont recall the specifics. I know that when our 97 would not idle; I unbolted the IACV and tried to check it - all I did was to make it worse. A new IACV solved the problem. I also changed the Throttle Position Sensor; just because it was easy to reach with the throttle body removed from the car, the car was 10 years old with 140k miles on it - and I got a nice discount from my local outlet for buying both of them at one time. When you said you unplugged the PCV valve, do you mean you undid the hose that feeds into the intake manifold? This would admit a LOT of air, and I would think the motor would therefore spin pretty fast - above 2000 rpm for instance. If it didnt speed up that much, you might have a clog at the fitting where the PCV hose connects into the int. manifold.

Yeah, it idle really high when I pull off the PCV line.
