Does anybody know if a 03 SS Silverado Instrument Cluster will fit in a 2000 Silverado? If so do you know if you have to reprogram the ECM or will it work as a plug n play?

Thanks

won't work. You need a cluster from a 99-02 vehicle. No PCM/BCM reprogramming is required.

Does cluster just not fit in the bay or the plug not match up?

I think its both, wrong shape and plug but most importantly its the info center, wont have the same inputs. I have an 02 Escalade cluster in my 02 Silverado, absolute direct no fuss dropin, and it looks a lot better. Of all places check Ebay, some sellers will tell you which ones are interchangeable.

Just figured I'd piggyback off this thread. I've never even thought of swapping out guage clusters, but after seeing the escalade cluster, its on my mind. My 00 silverado, 5.3, ext cab, long box, with tow package, does not have the tranny temp gauge. If i did the swap, would the temp guage on the new cluster work? On a quick search I found this, which leads me to belive it probably will, but I figure i'm best off asking the experts. (by the way.. . .thats you guys).. heh heh

Thanks,
Evan

Thank you I appreciate the input. Now for my next question.
Will a 03 Silverado Radio fit (more specifically the 6 disk version) and match up to the wiring on a 00 Silverado?

As I recall the gauge is supposed to work even if the OE gauge was not there, its something to do with regardless of the gauge all the trannies (AT) have the same temp sending unit. But try asking some others as well because I am just going on what the seller of these gauges told me.

I put the ss white gauge cluster in my 03 2500hd without the tranny temp and it is just plug and play. I really like the look my wife has an 03 1500 z71 and the clusters are like night and day.

Im pretty sure that even the 03+ ss guage cluster will swap into the 99-02 and the trans temp guage will work even if you dont hav it on your factory guage. The radio will not fit because 03+ came with a 2 din and the 99-02 is only a 1.5 din. But who uses cd changers these days anyways?

The radio will NOT fit or work in a 2002 and older truck. The 2002 and older uses the standard 12 volt positive and negitive system to operate the radio where as the 2003 and newer uses what is called serial data bus system to operate the radio. What that means is the body control computer controls the radio and it does not use 12 volts at all to operate the radio. The only way to use one of the 2003 and newer is to change out the entire wiring harness with all the computers, sensors, controls, instrument cluster, ect. I know Because I tried to do this myself and relized how expensive it actually was going to be so I scrapped the entire project.

I had an 03 NBS truck and it had the same size radio as my 2000 did. Are you sure they are double din?

Also I was told the 03 SS cluster would not fit in a 02 or older. Have you changed your cluster with a SS in a older vehicle. If you have, that's great! that will give me the confidence to go ahead and replace mine.

I'm sure about the radio. I've never actually done a cluster swap in my truck. I was thinking of doing an escalade cluster swap in the future. I'm pretty sure it's possible. You can check on www.gmfullsize.com just sign up and search for it. Its a really helpful and active site.
