Would anyone know what other kind of springs off another vehicle will fit a yj? I would like the same width and they can be longer. Just wondering if anyone else has done a spring swap.
Thnx

There are a lot of 2 1/2 inch wide springs out there that are longer ( Cherokee, Ford Explorer ), but longer would be an issue. The axle should be centered on the spring. The spring shackles are at the far ends of the frame, so that would mean you'd have to move the inboad mounts toward the center of the vehicle and in turn would shorten your wheel base/tire wouldn't fit in the fender openings. Shortening you wheel base would also mean driveshaft length issues. What are you trying to accomplish with the spring swap idea?

what are you looking to do, stretch the wheel base, lift, etc....?
you can put leaves from XJ's (cherokees that have leaves in the rear).
putting in XJ springs will require moving the shackle hangers out (people that do this swap, usuailly attatch them to the rear of a new frame cross member. and will give you a couple more inches of wheel base.
if you are wanting longer springs to get you lift, I'd advise against it. just bolting in a longer spring will cause the springs to have more arch, and will in turn ride really rough, and not flex well at all. not to mention that you shackle angle would not be very good at all.
give me a minute, I'll see if I can find some pics of YJ's with XJ springs.
