2000 Odyssey not shifting into drive...

One night this week, out of nowhere, I got into our Honda Odyssey and the car wouldn’t shift into gear. I put it into drive, and hit the gas – and the best way to describe it is that it felt like I was in 5th gear trying to get going. It moved… but not very far. I decided not to take any chances being stranded in my alley so I popped it into reverse and backed into my spot. Reverse seemed to work just fine.

After this happened I got online I read about a huge recall/class action in late 2006 about the transmissions on this model – checked our VIN and it was one of the eligible vehicles. However, we are now at 120k miles and I think it’s a little late to take it in under this pretense.

We are about to get rid of this piece of junk anyway, I was just wondering if a) anyone has had this happen; and b) how much it will cost to have it fixed. We really just need the car in driving condition to trade it in.
