FYI,

I would suggest going to your local Auto Zone to purchase a Haynes manual for your vehicle. They cost less than $15 bucks I believe. The Haynes manual is very beneficial. It contain step by step instructions and photos on how to make many repairs. Or you can just review the manual to see how the repair should be made. On my 1996 Grand Prix (3.1L) I had to disconnect the upper motor mounts and afterwards, insert one of the mounting bolts in the support brackets so I could rotate the engine forward after putting the transmission in neutral. Also, had to disconnect air filter housing or whatever it's referred to as from the throttle body prior to rotating the engine. I'm not sure if the 3.8 has the same setup. I had to put a couple of pieces of two-by-four behind my engine to keep it rotated while I removed the plugs. I'm a amateur but I got the job done. Saved myself over $100 by not taking to local ripoff shop. Hope this helps! Take Care!

Does it feel like you are in a higher gear during take off? What other symptoms? Any SES/CEL light? Check the TCC fuse to make sure it is not blown.

It depends because the fuel pressure may be low. To rule out the fuel pump and associated components like the relays and fuel filter you'll need to check fuel pressure at the fuel injector rail to see if it is in specs. 48-55 psi.

In neutral and when you do get the engine started how it it? Is the idle good and when revving do you feel any misfiring?
