The oil pressure light on my 1997 chrysler cirrus stays on all the time. I have been told that is is probably the oil sending unit. How do I know for sure and where is the unit located?

their is a sensor for the oil resevoir, first of all. before you mess with the sending unit. check the sensor. if the sensor is fine, then check to make sure your engines generating oil pressure, it could be sludge in the engine blocking the sending unit. you might want to change the oil, and then use a engine desludger. if you have tried all other options and still no luck then check the sending unit. as far as where its located you could look through some service manuals to fine out where its at.

I had the same problem on my 97 stratus. I have the 2.4L engine and it was the sending unit. It is located on the side of the engine underneath the exhaust manifold. Fairly easy to access from underneath the car.
