I just replaced my timing belt cover gasket. I removed and replaced the existing crank sensor( 24X) . I am now getting CODE 336 Crank Position Sensor. The TACH is also not working. The van drives fine. Are these two issues connected? If RTV sealer got between the sensor and engine could this be the problem? I just replaced the sensor NO LUCK.
As I read further in my HAYNES book it states that anytime the crank sensor is disturbed it will set off a false trouble code. It also says that I must take it to a dealer to have a LEARNING PROCEDURE done. What in the world is that and is there a home mechanic remedy.
THANKS FOR THE HELP !!!!
