Check engine

The check engine light is on in my 99 blazer and it goes on and off and says it needs a new MAF, why does it shut off and then come on randomly, can i save 112bucks on the MAF and change somthing else

Codes do not say you need a new part.
They say check it out.
What engine and code no?

It could be dirty or bad wiring on air intake hoses.
Have you tryed cleaning it?
Is it pluged in good and wiring good.
Is the intake ghoses good?
