I have a 99 Venture. The ABS warning light comes on sometimes when I start it and stays on. Other times it may not come on. Either case I have no rear brakes only front. Anyone have ideas?

How do you know the rear brakes don't work, symptoms are? The abs needs to be scanned with abs function scanner for codes and wheel speed sensor inputs.

When the rear is lifted and brakes applied rear tires still spin.

Ok the chevy dealer says its the wheel speed sensor in the front hubs is bad and causes the rear breaks not to work is this possible?

No, it will only cause the abs not to work, somerthing else is going on here. Easy, tell them if this does not fix the problem, you don't intend to pay for " ineffective repairs".

i think you have something going on with the abs junction up by the mastercylinder. have you tried and see if any brake fluid comes out of a rear bleeder when someone mashes the brakes. or could be the last one to put the rear brake shoes on didn't adjust them close enough to grab when brakes are applied.i think the rear shoes are .050 less than the distance across hub. someone correct me if i'm wrong.
