Distributor Recurve Results?????

Hey -if anyone has had their distributor recurved i am curious to know what their results were? i am currently recurving an ACCEL HEI super coil distributor out of my sbc 355 - has anyone picked up any time at the track? or what results do you think i can see after im done? just a broad list of benefits or times at the track would be ggreat to hear- thanks

It really depends on what the original dist set up was, may get some gains, may not. Engine mods are also in the mix.

When I was into stock cars, I'd take my distributor to my neighborhood speed shop, buy a curve kit and they'd set it up for me. I didn't use the vacuum advance with it.
I'd time the engine at 2500 RPM for 38 degrees of timing at the damper. I always used one of those Mr.Gasket damper tapes. Basically, set it and forget it. I'd check the timing once a week as general maintenance.
As far as how it worked, it was just fine. I'd get all the advance I needed before the cam kicked in. It was a circle track grind made to pull hard from 3000-6000 RPM.
