Hey guys hows it going well igot a big problem and i have no idea how to go along correcting it. But beforei do there are some things you need to know

I recived this 99 Silverado 2500 6.0L V8 from my grandpa in july of this year

Its never had:
Spark plugs changed
Coolant changed
Fuel filter changed
Fuel injection cleaning
Trasnmission fluid filer change

Terrible i know...

It has:
A fresh oil change
2 bottles of STP fuel injection in aa little les than 1/2 tank of fuel atm
155564 miles on it

Now today i got off of work and tried to start it it wouldnt start and i killed my battery trying to start it. Imean it would turn over and everything act like it was going to start and everything but then it just wouldnt idk :S My friend said it could be fuel pump but during thisikept smelling gasoline im guess from the exhaust. Well i let it sit for amybe ahour and came back it started right up. This was at 8am this morning. so it sat outside over night and its getting colder outside if that has anything to do with it. Well while driving home it wasacting funny like the transmisson was slipping like i would gas up and the rpms would rise but the truck would barely increase in speed. Then after that it wouldnt wana go over 2k rpms like idk how to explain it it was just weird. Its like it just didnt wana go so i couldnt accelrate fast and just had to moderatly accelarate to speed.

Well later i talked to my grandpa he said maybe it needs a fuel filter and injection tobe cleanedout. Well i was on my way to walkmart to get some and andiwasnt going over 45 and things were fine. Well i got there put it in nuteral and tried to riv it to about 2500 rpms well i couldnt it woulnt go over 2k then when i let off it made a pop sound like amisfire im guessing then i cit it off. I went in to walmart got the stp fuel injection cleaner and when i got out there i poured 2bottles in and headed back from my house on the way it started shakinbad and then i lost engine power. like i could hit the gas and it was still shaking andslowing down. Then i turned it off and called some people, after like 1 min of being off i turned it back on it was still shakin and at movin from 400rpmsto 900rpms then i put it into drive and gassed it some to get it to idle over and drive it to the parking lot 50 ft away then after that i stopped the truck leaving it on and made a call got some one to follow mehome and slowely drove hoome increasing speed it started skainging as it was but i wined it untill i gt to 50 and it wasnt shaking and i got home and parked, tomorrowmy grand pa wants me to take it to chevrolet but they are gonna charge me out the ass.. Any suggestions

Thanks
Justin

Definitly change the fuel filter.

Also, test the fuel pressure regulator. To test FPR, run truck for a few mins, then remove the vacuum hole from the FPR. If gas comes out, FPR is bad and need to be replaced.

Do a fuel pressure test as well to make sure everything else is functioning properly.

I went to the chevrolet dealership they said new fuel pump. Im getting that done a transmission fluid replacement, coolant drain and filled with antifreeze,8 sparkplugs, a fuel filter and cabin airfilter. Total for this ..... around $1300.... :banghead:

Ouch, sorry to hear that. At least it will be running right.

With 155,000 mi, you may also want to replace the plug wires if the dealer is not doing that.

Funny they said it was a fuel pump.. your story sounded more like the cat being clogged. That would cause the engine to not rev over a certain speed and cause it to shake when driving too. Not your fuel pump.
