I work at a service station right now and today a very rare car comes in. We see some fancy sports cars come in from time to time but nothing like this. It was a 1987 Shelby Lancer. Man it looked sweet, if you looked past the fact that it hasn't been taken care of and the interior was shot. Working on the thing was fun. Found the turbo, checked everything out. For the most part it was in good mechanical condition it was just how it looked was the problem. It was sad to see such a nice car fall into the hands of someone who just didn't care. I mean your driving a one of a kind! take care of the thing or give it to someone who cares. I offered the girl a trade on a car I had and then cash for it but she said "My dad said the car is special so I'm going to keep it" What a smart and stupid statement all at the same time.

why Why WHY I ask do good classic cars fall into the wrong hands. That car will end up in a junk yard some day and then crushed when it should be restored, babied, and raced! I'm going to go cry in a corner.....:banghead:

Neat car, it looks hideous though IMO.

Being automatic and a Turbo II, that's very rare.

What a shame. :shakehead

In the same spot, I guess...I pretty much have an offer for a free MG. I pretty sure its an MGB (Long story). It runs, but its not great, body is pretty damned good. Think I should take it?

It's not that bad considering when it was built. There weren't many good looking American cars in the mid-late 80s.

We didn't get many good looking cars in the 80s, period.

haha^^ so true.

At least the car is being driven. What's the point of having a cool car if you don't drive it? Although, I agree that people should take better care of their cars... rare or not. Many people don't seem to care much about the things they pay for... and if it's given to them then that is just an invitation to beat it to death... kinda like fat people at buffets...

I am always a fan of the Fox body mustangs. I know they are boxy as anything else from the era, but they still looked bad ass. I would agree with anyone who said that the 80s was a pretty bland time for car aesthetics.

Funny update to this. Yesterday at work this same car gets towed in! I wasn't able to hear the conversation but latter I was told a funny story. The car had broken down and since I had offered to buy the car from the girl, that they thought that I had sabotauged the car to brake down so they would think it was broken and want to sell it to me. What the crap! I took extra care in fixing that car the first time because I knew it would probibly be the last time anyone did something nice for it! Then I get accused of sabotauge! I find that funny and offencive all at the same time. Turns out she had a bad fuel pump. stupid people.....

Yes, you drained the gas tank, pulled the pump, and filled it with sand!

Assholes. What a pity. :disappoin
