Hello guys...

Im new to the forums, so first off, Hello!

I have a question, would it be possible for me to replace my gauge cluster from my 99 cavalier, to a later year model, and if not, would it be possible to find one with a tachometer for it, as i have yet to see one...

Any help or advise would be much appreciated!

Thanks!

no, you cant go with a later one but you can put a z24 96-99 cluster in, it has a tach.

But do they have the digital or analog Milage Reader, as mine was the first year with digital...

early 99's have analog, later 99's have digital. but im pretty sure you can use either. it does not matter if it is digital or not unless you prefer it.

I would prefer the digital, as the milage is read from the computer, whereas the milage on the analog is on the gauge cluster itself.

Thanks for all of your help, ill be going junkyard hopping this weekend!

... it looked really good and crazy bright at night. However, my new motor swap and everything is prohibiting me from using that shit ever again which sucks. lol.

Is it hard to put a guage in? I would like to have one or two put on where the window trim is. Like above^

depends on what they are. Mounting them there is easy, wiring them up is another story. Especially when you try and wire up 7 of them to light up at night.. You need to make a whole new circuit for em, or you'll blow something out when the lights go on. Something shorted out on me, so i did this.

Sorry to revive my own dead thread, but I have not purchased the new Instrument Cluster, and still have a few questions about it.

Im of the understanding that the 96-98 cluster will not work due to a motorized mechanism in the cluster, and it will prevent the spedometor and the tachometer from working correctly.

What options do I have? I cannot seem to find a 99 model cluster with a tach (AT or MT(mine is MT)) from a sunfire or a cavalier.

Im just hoping im not SOL :(

Your also going to be stuck with the mileage on the cluster you buy. You have to legally document your current mileage incase you go to sell the car later down the road or you could be subject to mileage fraud.

Just look for a 98-99 Z-24 or GT Sunfire cluster for a manual trans. Thats all your options you have to choose from.

www.car-part.com will also help if you wanna do some leg work.

.... or just do what I did.

Cody- Am I seeing that right?... vent delete for gauges? If that is what it is, where'd ya get it? A-pillar gauges give away the "sleeper" look

Not to disagree with the guy that knows everything about Cavaliers :), but my sister's '96 A/T has a tach, not sure about other years, so you may be able to take an A/T if 98-99 had it as an option.
