1989 Aries K

I have an 89 Aries K. 2.2L. This car will start and run. The problem is the throttle need to be pumped continusly. If i stop pumping the car will die. I has a new fuel pump. new pickup in the distributor. new battery. throttle position sensor. I don't get any codes. I am at a loss with this car. Don't know what else to check next. Any help would be appreciated.

Try disconnecting the M . A . P . sensor electrical connector and see what happens .

Does the car have an idle air control valve? If that has stuck in the closed postion, the engine might stop as soon as your foot was off the gas for a second or two. With a stuck Idle Air Control valve You wouldnt have to keep pumping it to keep it running - but it might be tricky to hold the pedal down -just slightly- for the engine to run at a moderate speed. It would also be tricky to get the car in gear and moving down the highway in this case.
I dimly recall some of the earlier TBI injection schemes had an adjustable screw for the main throttle butterfly valve. After enough miles and enough use, that adjustment had to be changed so the throttle valve would not go too far shut. The Idle Air Control valve was used for fast-idle during engine warmup, but would close completely when the engine was warm. The idle speed of a warm engine depended on the adjustment screw for that throttle butterfly.
And getting to that adjuster always involved 'defeating' the anti-tamper cover it would have had.

I unhooked the map and the damn thing started and ran. I will be replacing it. I dont think that I have a vacume problem every thing checks out. This is great. Thanks for the help
