temp gauge

having an issue with the oil gauge on my 2001 ford ranger. whenever I stop in traffic the gauge jumps back and forth then stops when I start moving again, any ideas? no problems with the running of the truck.

Check the wire at the sending unit. It sounds like somthing is loose and grounding out, could also be a bad ground in the dash area. My amp guage in my ranger doesnt work sometimes. I just tap the instrument panel by the gauge and it works just great
