Painting 2 different colors

I want to paint a car a couple different colors and i was wondering if i should pain the first color... wait a coulple days, Then put masking tape over the newly painted part, or wiill that ruin the paint?:confused: some one help please!:silly2:

Should work, but make sure you wait a day between the different paints. Also, depending on what scheme you're going with, do the top part first (dunno, that's what it says on my 3m masking tape).

Also get some quality PAINT masking tape. Make sure it isn't too strong as to pull up paint, but also make sure it can conform to grooves so you don't get overspray.

The rule of thumb here is to paint the lighter colour first.

May I recommend Tamiya masking tape here? Made for the task really and when used correctly very good at its job.
Like Alex said, start with the lightest color, it is easier to cover a light color with a dark than the other way around.
