My vic "chugs" when going a steady pace, not idling, nor accelerating. I replaced the fuel filter...
My inlaw has worked at a ford dealership for 20 years- says that his mustang did the same thing, got a tranny flush and fixed the problem.
it seems like its a gas problem or air... any thoughts?:banghead:

You might want to try a basic tune up to save in the time and money, can't hurt to much. Ex: Spark plugs(motorcraft recomended), Oil change that kind of thing. Also try checking your MAF, Mass air flow sensor, it will take a star drive to remove it. After removing it check to see if the two wires connected are dirty, if so clean them with carb or brake cleaner and be very gentle the MAF isin't cheap. This should help with your problem and should also improve your shifts. Please reply if this doesn't solve your problem to help diagnose your specific issue. Good luck.

I am having the same issues with my 2000 CVPI, except my check engine light is on. the light is for missfire on random cylinders, o2 sensors and MAF. I have cleaned the MAF (a few weeks before the light came on) and it helped quite a bit, but now cleaning it doesn't work. what order would you check these problems in? I installed Bosch platinum 2's about 5 months ago and have a K&N filter (I hear the oil from the K&N filter can mess with the MAF, any truth to this?)
Also the O2 sensors I hear can be difficult to install on the top side. anyone have experience with this. I'm not worried much about difficulty, just about time. can I do the O2 sensors after work one night, or should I devote an entire Saturday to the job.

First you mickt want to check the MAF sensor wires to make sure both are in tackt and that they are not really dirty. Also the K&N are known to make a mess only when they are over oiled. over oiling can make a mess of the MAF. The bosch plugs, well i have heard bad things about them. I would recommend running motorcraft platnum finewires. As for the O2 sensors, well everyone is right they are not fun fun. I wouldn't plan on doing this after work. How many miles are on your car and what is the O2 sensor code? Bank 1 or 2 Sensor 1 or 2? If you end up replacing the sensor i would consider getting a tap at napa before you do this. Write back if you have any more questions. Good Luck.
