Rear wheel bearing?

My 94 grand prix se has a sound that seems to be coming from the driver rear tire. It actually sounds like the brake pad rubs harder against the rotor at a certain point. As i speed up, so does the sound. It is like a light scraping sound. Maybe its normal or the rotor is just warped but want to make sure its not a bearing or something. I believe thats more of a squealing sound but again not sure. Thanks!!!

This certainly sounds like a rear wheel bearing going bad especially since the sound increases and speeds up when you speed the car up.

well thats no good. Would there be a squealing sound of any sort or will it sound like something is just scraping? Hope its not to difficult to replace. Thanks

It should sound like a rubbing noise or possibly a scraping. If it squeals then it is probably a brake but you would only hear it while braking. Usually caused by the wear indicator contacting the rotor.

Gotcha. Yeah the pads are fine just replaced them not to long ago. Guess I will look into (1) wheel bearing replacement. thanks!!

these cars are known for the rear caliper slides freezing up. This will cause the pads to constantly rub. Also, when you replaced the rear pads, did you replace the hardware too? Worn hardware can allow the pads to move around and fall back against the rotor when the brakes are not applied causing a rubbing noise.

I just replaced the pads but will look into some new hardware and see if that fixes the prob. thanks!
