These kits are fantastic, I just finished a S600 AMG Coupe a few months ago. Looks like i'll have to buy some more. I also want to try putting the V12 engine in the 500SL.

Yes, They need to do some current kits. Although I am glad to hear that AMG version kits are being re-released. I have 1 AMG SL500, 2 AMG S600 coupe kits and need 1 or 2 AMG S600 sedans to go with them. But to be serious, Tamiya need not to re-release too many old kits but to use the plastic for new moldings of new kits. New AMG Mercedes kits would be nice. :icon16:

Does anybody know if some of those kits are not actually made by Tamiya? I saw one that looked like it may have been a Revell of Germany kit in a Tamiya box. Tamiya's name was not on any of the sprues like it usually is and the tires were on sprues and were not the same material they use.

I have the kit. It is by CCLee. I used 2 kits to build my 600sel limo because I didn't want to take a chance on my Tamiya kits. I'll post picture of actual kit later in WIP.

Would the brand-new Mini excite you?:grinyes:
How about the semi-assembled 1/12 Nissan GT-R, followed by the smaller 1/24 plastic?
I haven't personally confirmed these info yet, but these are reportedly the likely line-ups for the near future.

new mini, not so much but that hints at new ties with BMW which does intrigue me more than a little.
The GT-R seemed like it was always going to be a dead cert and confirmation would be marvelous as it is looking stunning. If they're modelling it for 1/12 then that suggests that there'll be quite a bit of detail when it comes to the 1/24, again, that is what makes it more interesting.
Hope I'm not disappointed.

New mini - nope, its boring.
New GTR would be very exciting though, considering the reputation and strength of the GTR badge in Japan, Tamiya would be crazy not to make a model of it.

Ditto! Mini is borrrrrrrrrrrrrring. I'd be more excited about an Audi S5 coupe model.

I hope the proposed GT-R kit will be full detail (with engine) and as good as their R32 GT-R (i.e. without that nasty metal chassis)...

Any difference with the first release? No modifications or something? Maybe the decals?

As far as I can tell they are the same apart from the box. At least the S coupe is, I never had the AMG version of the SL before.
Decals still appear to be Tamiya, not cartograph.
