94 Firebird 3.4 Overheating Help!!!!!

Well since i fixed the idol the car has been runnin perfect but now since the cold has kicked in i noticed it running a lil rough and it will overheat alot i just flushed my radiator the water pump is fairly new and the thermostat is new now when i start the car up it takes a couple tries then it fires right up for the most part of the day, the car runs good temp wise for the first 20 minutes then bam it starts crankin in the red which i dont get it wont do it all the time just some times and when it does overheat i find if i slam the pedal down it starts too cool down and sometimes this will fix the problem somtimes it wont most the time it helps a lot now when it does go back to normal it still fluctuates bouncing around Ne1 have ne suggestions on what too check etc my only guess is its the thermostat sticking might have been a bad one when i bought it ne help would be nice thnks

Could be a dud thermostat, however I would be inclined to suspect a air pocket somewhere in the system.

hmmm neway too go about checking this and fixing this also the car starts out with a very nice oil pressure then once it warms up much like the temp the oil pressure goes too 0 while sitting at a light, stop etc ne suggestions I did notice alot of clumpy oil built up on the engine when i tore it apart in the summer however i havent gotten around too flushing it

To top off the radiator and bleed the air out of the system... make sure the car is cold, best time is after it has sat overnight. Open the radiator cap, and look at the level. Top it off if need be. Go in the car, turn it on, and turn the heater on to full blast. Go back outside of the car and watch the fluid level in the radiator. If the fluid goes down at any point, quickly top it back off again. And watch it for about 10-15 minutes until all of the bubbles are done coming up. There's no need to bleed this setup, despite what others tell you. The 3.4 is designed so that the top of the radiator cap is higher than the cylinder heads, so the system naturally bleeds itself as the air moves to the highest point.

First thing I would suggest with the oil pressure issue is to replace the oil pressure sensor. It's right next to the oil filter, you can't miss it. They tend to start reading inaccurately as they age, so I would replace that first to see if that fixes the problem.

well she bubbled up all right i fit about another gal in there after all the leaking it did when it overheated last hopefuly this fixes the problem as i was doing it it ran perfect so ill have too run her for a bit on the road too make sure it solved the problem

sup bro., you might want to check your engine seals, if this just started you still can save the motor...... if the seal or seals are warped due to an initial overheating, water (vapor) is sipping through thus causing loss in water and therefore overheating.

tooke it for a ride engine stayed cool howver i did see a lil fluctuation in it goin up then down but nothing big now i did notice a creamy milky look where u insert the oil however there is nothing in the oil pan that looks milky just the tube for the oil i figure it might of gotten a little damp since if it was a blown head gasket or cracked head it would more then likely be on the dipstick and in the oil pan just thought id post here too get ur ideas ( the engine itself im not worried about since i have a LT1 out of a 94 n the garage ima be swapping proly in the summer or spring) i just need it too run til then :)

also the car has been sitting for the past 2 weeks due too teh overheating issue and it has been damp but should i be worried about the milky look even tho its not showing in the oil pan/Dipstick just on the cap for the valve cover

I'd keep an eye on that, clean the cap and routinely check it.

well i believe its a blown head gasket i cleaned the cap etc let it run for 30 min yesterday getting the air out it ran fine yesterday then bam today i take it for a ride and it starts heatin up it didnt hit red but it fluctuates so much back and forth i know its not the gauge because u can tell when u pull the hood up that it was boiling over hmm im at a stump i realy dont want it too be the headgasket also the cap was a lil watery and the radiator was a lil low in the morning before i started it which it should of been full from yesterday still i just dont know why it would only show in the cap and not the oil pan or the dip stick even it shows clean oil

There's no white smoke out the exhaust?

i havent noticed any white smoke nor have i noticed loss in power im going too runa compression check in the morning soo ill let u guys know what i find out
