Its smoking, Help

no anti freeze in it, and at the bottom of the dipstick where it should be, there is only dark stuff, kinda gunky. but not alot of it. and there is some sort of oil/liquid around part of the top portion of the engine(around it). it has sprayed over the top of the intake manifold and such, causing smoke. I didnt check the antifreeze when i bought it damn it. but help would be great from you guys, thanks. I belive its coolant b/c my resevoir is empty, and the coolant shoots up, but only when i drive it around for a bit, not at idle, some people tell me its a coolant or heater hose, what do you think?
