trans swap

has anyone done an automatic to manual swap in a 3rd gen camaro?
(i guess the process will be the same for any camaro, but im sure there are details that are different)

i am looking to put a t-56 or t-5 in an 85 IROC-Z.

any help finding transmissions and helpful hints would be appreciated

There have been a lot of 3rd gens that had LS1s with T56s put in them, so it can be done, and there will probably be how-tos somewhere in the web.

Also, I would deffinatly recomend the T56 over the T5 as it can handle a lot more power and torque (300+ lb-ft of torque can break a T5).

The 93 -96 Camaro Z28/FormulaT56/Trans am have the same bolt pattern as SBC. Also the ZF 6 speed used in 89 - 96 Corvettes would also bolt up to a SBC.
