My names Kris.

Just bought my 2001 2-door z24 cav. Im 16.

Ive been driving for only a few weeks and basically have my cars future set up for it :grinyes: I was hoping somebody could hook me up with a how-to for upgrading my stock rear speakers. ive got 6 by 9 sony xplod's. Also, these speakers can handle up to 300 watts a piece. With my stock head unit for the speakers, how many watts can i actually put to use? Many Thanks

The speakers will sound better, but your stock deck will still make them sound like shit. And well... xplods are wal-mart quality. But hey, to each their own and we've all started somewhere so get what you can with your budget.

I'm a fan of J&L, Alpine, Rockford Fosgate, Infinity Kappa's

As far as how much power you can push into those, you'll be able to know when they sound like shit to turn it down. Your deck can push enough to make them sound decent.

Thanks for the heads up on the quality. Im working now on removing the rear deck in the first place. Im thinging about cutting through my deck like many other people seem to be doing. Will that do anything for my quality? Or is it even worth it at all.

PS. ive got the triangle piece of my deck out, but im stuck where it asks me to remove more trim. I cant find what theyre talking about. Im sure ill figure it out, but some direction could definatly speed things up

When I put in aftermarket speakers, they sounded even worse than the stock ones, because the stock deck can't supply them with even close to the power they need. You will need to get either an aftermarket deck or an amplifier (or both) in order to get the most out of aftermarket speakers.
