Swap SPI for Zetec?

I have a 2000 Focus SE with 160,000 miles on it. The engine finally died and the price for the SPI motors (VIN P) at the bone yard are through the roof. Can I swap a SPI engine for the Zetec with slight modification or am I asking the impossible? Is the Zetec engine block the same as the SPI block? Can I just swap the heads and be on my way? I would hate to spend 9 bills on a motor for a car that isn't worth that much. Can anyone give me any advice?
Thanks
Thanks

The Zetec block is not the same as the SPI block - same bellhousing bolt pattern though.

I have the same engine problem, but my engine died at 108,000 miles. What do I need for a Ford Focus SPI to Zetec Engine Swap.

you will need the engine, the computer, and a lot of the wiring harnesses. The tranny should bolt up, im not sure if the SPI uses the mtx-75 for not, so the gearing my not be the same as a stock zetec focus (no big deal)

I'm going to bet the pinto tranny wont work....but there are RWD tranny's for the zetec in the UK you could order.
