RIP my 1.6i-VT

well i was going to work with my brother yesterday at 3.30AM, when i came across my old VT parked at a wierd angle, upon closer inspection i saw the kiddy who has had it for 2 weeks had completely stoved it in ,

I gave my details to his mum as i offered to get rid of the bits for him if he wants to , if not i may buy it myself to break if he will accept an offer, the car may not be up for breaking if he decides to get another one and put the bits on it but i thought i would post it up just in case

he hit it so hard its creased the roof and both 1/4 panels, every panel is fubar however the ass end is untouched

its a shame to see it like this, i must have spent a scary amount of time/money on it, but these things happen. i smashed up my first 4g at his age, easy done when you have a quick car when your young

how does the dash look? I've been looking for a RHD dash for awhile, only see them $300 plus imported..

I'm contacting a salvage in the UK wednesday to find out what shipping will be on an engine... but I can get the EDM equivalent of the DOHC ZC engine from there for 50-75 GBP (about 175 USD) plus shipping, if they'll ship it to port from there... if not, I have a friend over there that drops scrap regularly, so he'll maybe work out a deal w/ them, and be able to ship it for me, and I"ll just pay him for it.

I got dibs on the tails and sideskirts. Would call it on the rear lip, but don't want you to seperate your bumper.

And I'd not bother using bond-o on a dash... there are better adhesives for it... like airplane/model glue.. they actually melt the plastic enough to bond it together.. then there's always plastic welding, and you can sand/paint it when you're done... and use vinyl dye, it will keep the original finish.

iono, I had an engine shipped from a boneyard in the UK to port @ NYC.. it cost me about $300... b/c I had to pay VAT and US import taxes... maybe that was just b/c it was an engine tho.

heh... are you putting a lowjack/recovery system on it? or an active power cut-off, that kinda thing? It's kinda hard to steal a car that won't start, is it not? (well, in some cases... I've repo'd cars that wouldn't start)

My fave one is a switch under the dash that shuts the ECU down... or same concept for the main relay, just so the car will crank all day and never start.
