Hi, guys, sorry to keep posting about this silly topic--another Toyota owner messing up your Aveo forum... I just hope to get some help:

Already got an answer if this radio is a good one, thank you michaelodonnell123:

Does this radio need a special signal from the vehicle to function or just with the unlock code (I think I can handle this from all the info on this forum, THX!) it will work with any vehicle (12V, grd, speakers, etc...)?

THANKS, sorry to bother you nice Aveo owners, hope somebody can help me out, would app. it!

I did some research and so this is for posterity:

an Aveo/Daewoo radio as pictured will work in another vehicle with the appropriate harness, only possibly a code will be necessary to unlock the radio.

This is for anyone else who may have this wish as I did to install an Aveo radio in their "non-Aveo" vehicle.

I will post once the radio (I already bought on eBay) is installed and, hopefully, functioning.

peace,

if you need a code for your radio when all is said and done, you can find a listing of them at daewootech.com. you will have to do a bit of digging but they are there. its under a thread titled like (but not exact) newbies read this as this may have the info you need. dont quote that but thats what the topic is like. hope that helps.

yeah, it does, thanks.:)
this is uncharted territory for me and I need all the help I can get, I hope the wiring works out without too much problem, the code is a little more worrisome, but with the link above and your guy's help shouldn't be a problem.

Thanks again,

ALRIGHT! we've got a professional here...:smokin:
Appreciate that very much, as soon as have the radio and time, will let you know how the install goes--maybe even throw in a picture, a 1996 Tacoma has the same double-din RADIO/storage like the Aveo, should work out good (if the radio works).

THANKS! will advise,

will post pics tomorrow--didn't need a code, seems to be working fine. got a free punk-a-rama CD from the junk yard--turns out the radio is a little larger than "single-DIN", everything under control tho', will post the Toyota/Aveo radio pics tomorrow.

mikedudley17, also michaelodonnell123, thanks for your support on this, here is the finished product in my Toyota pickup.

The radio was bigger than single DIN (surprise!) but I set it back a few millimeters (no button interference), recentered the radio brackets and shortened to lower pocket to make room. It just barely fits and functions, but it does!

I'll post the rest of the details on the Toyota forum as to how to retrofit this to our vehicles, there was quite a bit of little tweaks and adjustments, it was a really tight fit, but it works!

There wasn't any code needed for this radio, I suppose the previous owner didn't program one, all the better, one less hassle.

There is one thing I like about it, because the CD slot is so high, you can hardly tell it is a CD player, it looks like a bare bones radio, maybe that makes it less interesting for thieves.

Thanks very much to both of you for the help, appears to work great and I appreciate all the advice and support!

Hey, since I didn't get a manual with it, can someone tell me what the AST/DIR button is for? I assume it is for MP3 file structure, but thought I'd ask. And what are the UP and DN buttons for?

Thanks,

wow thats a snug fit!!! lol nice!

*edit* i have never had to use the Ast/dir buttons before. I assume it also has to do with mp3 files. i have used cds with mp3 files on em and and tried pressing it and nothing happens for me. i can try and find out tho. let me get back to you.

OK, thanks man. I went out, burned an MP3 and tried a few things.

I'll be looking for a manual here on line.

Actually, there is really only one thing I need to know for sure, maybe someone here can help me:

Can you FF and REW in MP3 mode? I can only get the thing to jump from song to song (in MP3 mode). In CD mode I can hit display and change from track to time (or whatever) and it will FF or REW, but MP3 mode haven't gotten that secret yet.

Thanks mikedudley17, as always, any help is welcome, I have no clue what I'm doing here...:icon16: :icon16: :icon16:

im still waiting on a response from my other forum in regards to the AST/DIR issue. i lost my manual for my car otherwise id be able to tell ya right away.

as for FF and REW you cant do it with mp3. i dunno why but i just know u cant. and i dunno if you noticed this or not, but on some mp3 discs my files get played out of order. even to try and seek some of them they are out of the original order they were burned onto the cd as. oh well...

and if you find a manual do please let me know where u found it...

OK, will do. I really appreciate you asking around as well, going way over the top for me on this one, again, appreciate that a whole lot.

Here is the final post over at www.customtacos.com (http://www.customtacos.com), in case you want to cross over to the dark side and check it out. :evillol: :evillol: :evillol:

Yeah, the FF/RR thing kind of stinks, I wasn't expecting that, the Toyota unit I have allows that, don't know what to think about that yet...

Also, the mixed up stuff I noticed, too. It seems like it chops zeros off files, I don't know how to describe it, but it was definitely the case, the files were 90% in order, but then...NOT!

Hmmm..., we'll I'm tired of messing around with this idea, the Daewoo player will have to work until the perfect solution comes along.
