Hey guys.

Im building the fujimi kit of the rx3, and i want to make it this colour.
Just wondering what colour in the tamiya cans is similar to this?

The olive drab types seem as close to this as tamiya makes however they might lack the slight gold tinge and they are a flat colour....would a clear coat over teh top be enough to make it reflective?

Do any other brands have a similar colour?

It's a metallic, you'll have to either mix colors to get it, or start w/an olive base and put a metallic overcoat over it. The screen color looks pretty accurate to my memory of that car in that color (a friend had an RX3 in that exact color). Or look up autocolorlibrary.com and find the code for that particular color and have a paint jobber mix you some. Tamiya doesn't have anything even remotely close to this particular color, you'd have to mix and match some greens/yellows/brown to get in the ballpark.

If you have a AB, you can always have the paint matched in automotive paint. Zero paints have become one of the most popular here on AF, click me (http://www.hiroboy.com/catalog/product_info.php?manufacturers_id=46&products_id=866) to see more.

Unfortunately i sold my AB setup as i couldnt work out how to use it, so ive resorted to cans now. I will probably spray it a light met silver if i cant get this colour.
Im in australia so im not sure of any companies that mix paints for models in aerosol cans :S

It's kinda hard to tell from the pic how the color actually looks- Solid olive green, or greenish burned gold?

It likely wouldn't be very close to the actual factory color, but TS olive drab overcoated with TS clear pearl and then TS clear could look great on it....

That sounds like it would look good! Might give that a go Thanks for the advice...there is 2 types of olive drab....would the lighter one be a better choice?

to test teh colours (providing spooning is meant in a non sexual way lol) i need to buy the cans, which can be expensive....i just bought the olive drab 2 (ts28)and pearl clear tamiya paints...(and a 89 aoshima rx7 kit while i was there), ill test them out on some plastic and see how they look

I just gave teh body a spray of olive drab 2, with a plain clear, i tested the pearl clear on some plastic (not a spoon :D), but it looks too sparkly. Not really the look i was after. So far it looks ok. Not 100% what i wanted, but should be ok once the detail of it begins. I will make a WIP thread on it shortly

there the WIP thread ive started. You get an idea on the clear pearl etc in the paint. I must say ive impressed myself with how the paint has come out so smooth, although pics dont really do it justice
