About 3 weeks ago I took my car in for emissions and when they hooked it up to OBD 2 scanner , it said my EGR system , o2 system x2 , Catalyst System were not ready...wtf ? So going back to first paragraph I did all that and went to try again today , same thing..but this time at least the TPS was off the reader :/ so I have 3 things coming up on the OBD2 scanner as 'NOT READY' and these things being 'Not Ready' are not trippin the CEL either...WTF @?@? -_-

Edit : Sorry had to look at the paper again..

Misfire - Ready
Fuel Sys - Ready
Comp - Ready
Catalyst - Not Ready
Heated Cat - N/A
Evap Sys - Not Ready
Air - N/A
A/C Refrig - N/A
o2 Sensor - Not Ready
o2 Heater - Ready
EGR Sys - Ready
MIL - Off
Koer - Pass
Koer - Pass

Ok well , I did a 100 mile trip at 60 miles an hour..trying to drive cycle it and get the monitors some data or whatever :/..so we'll see how the I/M goes tomorrow..

Also..now I am really upset..my transmission popped out of 5th gear 6 times on the first half of the trip ( 50 miles ) and 27 times on the 2nd half ( the other 50 )..I never went over 4000 rpm , and not once did I go over 70 mph...im very upset after just having the transmission built less than a month ago =(

Anyone know why these 'NOT READY' monitors would still not be working ?

You need to take that thing in ASAP. Im not sure on the warrenty of most rebuild trannys but I think it may only be a month.

The o2 sensor could be tripping all of your "not ready" signals. Have you checked either of them to see if they're bad?

Well I did call Ken Garf Mitsubishi today and talked to the head Service Tech. and he's basically saying the 'Catalyst System' could be in error due to the o2's being bad ( replaced the front one already ) or my Cat. is clogged but highly unlikely as I would have some serious issues and under powered performance. I guess from what he says the front and rear o2' decide the 'Catalyst' for OBD2 and with the front being new all that leaves is there rear one but the rear is so damn expensive :/ Is there a way for me to diagnose the rear o2 or is it guess work from here ?

Also when the rear goes out does it not toss a CEL ? Because my CEL hasn't been on since the P1487 code I had a month or so ago.

Aggghhhh my car is a nightmare =(

Are the o2 sensors after the cat the same type from 1995 thru 1999 ?
I was looking on autozone.com and the one for the 1997 is only 72.99 but the one for the 1999 is 124.99 and they are exactly the same it seems : or do the sensors kick out different signals depending on year ?

I'll see if I can find some tests for the downstream sensor, but I don't think there are any tests for it.

As for the o2 sensors, the only differences I could possibly think of would be between the 95-96 models and the 97-99 models, only because of the minor changes they made though. Either way, I would think a 97 sensor should be the same as a 99, but don't take my word for it, I'm just guessing. Maybe call that tech back and ask him that question.
