I'm have some thoughts into how I'm thinking of getting this done. I've gone to muffler shops that charge increadibly overpriced exhaust job, where you can simply buy a kit for less than half the price they charge and do it yourself. But I've been thinking of making the job my own. I have an idea, but I would like second opinions on what I would like to do. I made a pic about it to explain myself better.

But here are my worries and concerns:

- Will the noise be too loud, to the point of annoyance

- Will it pass the inspection test when its time to take one

- Incase of a flood, will the water reach the engine

- Will there be any violations with emission regulation

- Will the sound and appearance make me a target for police

- Is the muffler a necessity

I'm thinking of using regulat extention pipe to reach the edge of my car, then add tips for a stylish look. I'm doing this in hoping it will improve some power. Also I'm not in the wealthy part of my life yet, so I'm thinking of making this a realy inexpensive project.

Any thoughts. Thanks. This is the best place so far to find car information.

Without any mufflers on a V8 it is probably going to be a little loud:grinyes:. If I was to put mufflers I would put them right after the bend. Theretically it should pass tech since how you still have the cats on this includes being emmsions legal. Water should not reach the engine considering the original exhaust is only a lttle higher. And yes without mufflers you will be a target for police but other than that it sounds cool It definantly will improve performance because it is freeer flowing.

Leave the H-pipe in the system-it'll keep your torque in the lower RPM band. Use magna-pack style mufflers for sounds control--even though the 4 cats kill a lot of sound on their own.:2cents:

This is a stock motor correct? If you pull the mufflers off and just run straight pipes you will loose performance. Yes you have cats (needed for emissions/inspection), but without mufflers you will loose back-pressure. Back-pressure helps big time in building torque. You might pull just a little better up top but it will be even more sluggish down low.
