2000 GTP ABS/TCS lights on solution

I thought I would submit this post detailing my solution to the ABS/TCS light coming on intermittently on my 2000 GTP.
First a description of the symptoms:
Intermittently, both the ABS and TCS Off lights would come on at the same time. When this happened, my steering would become stiff at low speeds (due to the Magnasteer assist being disabled.)
At some point (later that day or the next day), the ABS light would turn off and then the Magnasteer assist would come back. After the cycling the ignition again, the TCS Off light would go out as well. All would be well again - until the next time it happened (maybe 1 or 2 days later.) Over the next month or so, the problem would occur more frequently, to the point where it was happening daily and the light were on most of the time.
To help isolate the cause, I had my car scanned at the dealership with a GM Tech2 reader and found the following DTCs:
C0244 - PWM Delivered Torque Malfunction
C0550 – indicates an internal EBTCM malfunction
P1571 - Traction Control Torque Request Circuit
The solution:
Based on the above codes, It appeared to be an issue with my Bosch 5.3 EBTCM module; so, I pulled the module, packed it up and shipped it to Module Master (www.modulemaster.com (http://www.modulemaster.com/)) for repair. For $200 (+shipping), they rebuilt my module, repairing the damage to the power control circuitry to restore operation. I reinstalled the module and - viola! - no more ABS/TCS lights! This was a huge savings over the $1300 that the dealership wanted for a replacement module. An added bonus is that they warranty my repaired module for 5 years.
I hope this information helps anyone with similar symptoms.

Welcome to AF.
Thanks for sharing your experience. Based on your DTCs and symptoms I can see where solely the EBTCM would be the issue.
For those of you that do not know what an EBTCM (Electronic Brake and Traction Control) module is see pic below. Black modules. It is part of the ABS and traction control system and the electronic brain of the operation.
BTW - Funny you're the second member that mentioned and plugged Module Master in the last 90 days. :sly:

ABS Pump with EBTCM module - (1999 and up Grand Prix with Bosch 5.3 ABS)

Im assuming that i have the same issue because my ABS/TRAC light stays on all the time. I have replaced my wheel bearing on the right side because I heard a vibration (like the brake pad was rubbing) and the car pulled to the right. After i replaced the hub I still have the same problem. Will replacing the EBCTM solve all of these problems or is there a greater problem at hand?

Hard to say for sure and we would only be speculating. As posted out in the original post it needs to be scanned by a scan tool capable of reading GM ABS DTC codes. The best one to use is the GM Tech II found at the dealer. Other causes could be more than one wheel sensor bad or the wiring to include electrical connector from each wheel sensor to the EBTCM module.
BTW - What year and model Grand Prix do you have?

I have almost the same codes (C0244 and C0550) with intermittent ABS/TCS lights coming on in my 2000 GP GTP. What kind of turn around did you have with Module Master? Where exactly is the EBTCM in our cars?
Thanks
