Ok guys, I haven't figured out all of the details yet but I wanted to fill everyone in on the plan so far. Right now Im trying to find a 1/4 track that is open on Saturday. I think I might have found one in Aiken, SC. I am also looking for an awd dyno that we could use sometime that weekend. There is one here in Columbia, and one in Charleston. Its going to come down to the track we choose and which is closer. We also need to find a camping spot someone close to these locations. I dont think anyone really wants to stay in a boring hotel.
Let me know if you are going to try and be here so I can get an estimate of how many will be here. Also if your intested in the dyno/track. Its looks like this is going to take place in either SC or NC. Thats about in the middle of most people. Hopefully this will happen around March, April, or May.
Let me know if anyone has any suggestions on anything. Hopefully some people that are familiar with this area can help out. Vanilla - Let me know if there is anything up in NC. I didn't see that many 1/4 mile tracks there.

I'm up for it man, me and my buddy and his evo would easily go up there. Does it have to be a campground or can it be just the middle of the fucking woods? As long as the cars make it thru i think we should go somewhere secluded.
***EDIT***
I think bleedEGblue siad he could make it, and nilla gorilla said he would be up for it.

Originally I was going to say we could camp by the lake in Hartville, no one lives on it really. And its only like 10 minutes from the track, but the track is only open to "street" cars on wednesday night. So I dont think thats going to work out. But anywhere is fine with me.

OK, we have bithlo down here in Orlando, as far as a dyno...i'm looking around. if we have it 2 or 3 months after the new year i should have enough time to gt to know the city. i live about an hour away from the track. as far as for lodging......i don't know yet.

Yea I will definentely make it down. Then before or after the meet I can stop at Moncks Corner and get some work done on the house. Lol trust me with how much work is needed down there I will have a good enough excuse to make it.

lucky bastard.
Im on the "god damn thats a hike" list for the southern meet but the more you guys talk about it the more it seems it willwork for me. My gradparents live in Kissimee, FL so if it is held in orlando, I can head there and stay for a day or two. That way ill get somedelicious food out of it lol.

As far as tracks go in NC...poop. Like the last quarter mile around in fayetteville has finally officially closed down I think. But yeah I'm up for the meet.

11-09-2007, 06:35 AM
Yea I didn't think there were any up there. I guess that rules out NC for the meet. As far as having it in Florida, I think that may be a little to far south. Let me know what you guys think. Its fine with me but some you guys north of NC might have a long drive.

Ok, so whats the middle for us here, somechere inNorth Georgia? I'm up for any place actually, want to get to see new places. I have a cousin that lives somewhere in SC. Either place its held will be good for me.

I know nothing about tacks down in that area. Anyone know of any sites or anything to visit about some info? Besides googling "South Carolina tracks + Georgia tracks + Florida tracks" I am useless lol

I have just been searching "Drag strip in SC" or something. I get lots of tracks but nothing we can use. We need something thats open to the public racing on Friday or Saturday. I seem to have found some open on Friday night 6-11. *How many people would be able to make this time?* This would give us all day on Saturday to dyno, then Sat. night would could just be whatever. We could cook out and hang out at the camp site or something.
I need some feedback on the track time.

As far as the times and crap..its whatever man. I can make anything, I don't work, lol. I might have a job by then but I'll just get the time off. As far as where it should be...I'm not driving any further than SC. I mean if y'all want to have it some where else, its fine, I just won't go.

Well guys, Im not so sure we can find a 1/4 mile track. There are only 2 in SC and and one is open on Wednesday night and the other is Thursday night. There is an 1/8th mile track that is open on Saturday.
It pretty much comes down to if yall want to run on a 1/4mile track it will have to be on a weeknight.
Comments?

Me personally ...I don't care if we race or not. I don't mind racing 1/8th mile though. Where I'm from the only kind of racing anyone does is 1/8th miles anyways.

Weeknight? Well that won't be a problem on my side. When we get kicked out of the track at 11 we can just hit the streets and fuck around. Doesn't matter, but i do have to say this. We have to cook out at a camp site and drink booze (mandatory!!!) lol, i'm game.

JoeSchmoe's got the right idea lol. But I think we should definentely hit a track and test out1/8 or 1/4 mile times. Im guessing my FWD wont be able to dyno at this meet so Id like to get some numbers out of it lol.

Yea that sounds good. I think I found a track, but its hard to find a track open on Fri/Sat and a dyno within an hour or so. I will let you guys know when I find something. Im sure we could find a camping spot just about anywhere. So thats the last thing we will figure out.

It is a far ass drive but here me out fellas.
Ok guys this is what I have come up with so far. If we want we can meet here in Daytona, if anyone likes NASCAR (probably not) we have the Daytona 500 Experience. If we go in a group we would only pay $16 to get in and see whatever the hell is in there. They have simulators, I’Max, etc.
http://daytonausa.com/ (http://daytonausa.com/)
If that’s not cool then we can just hang out at the beach. Have a cook out, throw the football around, or just do whatever we feel like. Either way if we would have the meet in March we would be in time for spring break. To get to the track in Orlando it will be a 45min ride, we can get onto I-95 which has a speed limit of 75mph for a stretch of like 45mi. I think it would be cool to have a bunch of DSMs running at 125mph on the freeway! They have street drags on Saturday and they close at 11pm, so after getting kicked out we can hit a campground. I haven’t searched for a dyno or campsite yet but I’m still looking. Need some input guys.
http://www.speedworlddragway.com/schedule/ (http://www.speedworlddragway.com/schedule/)
P.S. I have to swap valve seals in my head this weekend, but I should check out that track next Wednesday or Saturday to see how things are there.

I can't believe I haven't seen this on the main page yet. I opt for SC, but really anywhere in the south east is fine. Darlington is the only 1/4 mile track i know of, and the only awd dyno i know of is in charleston, but if there's one in columbia that's even better. I'm with vanilla though, it doesn't matter about the racing or dyno, I just want to meet some fellow dsm'ers, and definately want to see the 420A turbo, and the 2.4 turbo, which I've never had the opportunity to see. I guess the only thing missing now is the forgotten 4g37, but I can't drive both, and I'm sure everybody would rather see a gsx than a lil 1.8L. Count me in.

Ok guys. I found a good dyno shop here in columbia. The guy is real cool and is willing to give us a pretty good discount if we have a few people together. The dyno is suppose to be awd but Im really not sure yet. The dude also has a badass 1g awd.
How many people are planning on dynoing their cars? Im trying to get an estimate.

Yea I dont see it either but I heard it was. I need to call him to verify. The dyno is usually $65 for 2 pulls with A/F. So I think around $50 with the discount. He said he would give us a pretty good one so thats just a guess.

TalonEclipseMixGsx
11-17-2007, 08:05 PM
Does the dyno include tuning too? If so thats a real good price. With the AWD, I prolly won't be able to get it done if they don't offer it, but I should have it dynoed and tuned by then anyway. I'm sure I'll be changing settings by then anyway, so if I can I wouldn't mind doing it, especially at that price.
SilvrEclipse
11-17-2007, 10:32 PM
Ok I talked to one of my friends. The guy just got the awd dyno put in so thats why there is no pics. The shop has only been open for a few months. The dyno time would not include him tuning the car, they do offer it so they would do it but not sure on how much he would charge you.

Ok guys we need to start deciding on a date for our meet. I was think sometime in March or April. Let me know what month is best for you and maybe we can narrow it down to a date everyone is free.
Just so everyone is clear on whats going on. This meet will be on a weekend in SC. Unless things change we will be camping at the lake Friday night, Saturday we will be driving about an hour to the dyno in Columbia. We can hang out here some or whatever, it doesn't matter. Then later we will go back to the lake to stay Sat. night. Then Sunday we can do whatever. I know some people will want to head off early but others can do whatever they want.
People can fish at the lake if anyways wants to.
