Gripes about the Monsoon 6 CD system

I need to gripe!
OK, my new 2008 GP is quite fabulous BUT... the "Premium" Monsoon 6-CD stereo system is not! At least not when it comes to playing home-made CDs.
I have played home-made CDs in my '97 & '98 GM single-CD radios, no problem. But the Monsoon just says "CD ERROR" and will not play. I have tried all kinds of different CDs, burning them on different computers with different software. No go.
To make things worse, this "modern" 2008 model WON'T PLAY MP3's!!!! How insane is that?!?! There's also no input for an iPod.
When it comes to CDs, it looks like one can listen to store bought CDs, and that's it!!
Considering I spend HOURS in my car every day, this is a HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT!! Sometimes General Motors really has their head shoved way up...you know where.

Mine plays homemade cd's pretty well, but a huge disappointment that it can't play mp3's. It is also lacking in sound considering it is tagged as being a premium system. I would rather see a single disc player capable of mp3's rather than the 6 disc changer in them now.

guitarfish, stupid question, but you are using cd-r's and not cd-rw's arent you?

Yes, I'm using 700MB 80min CD-Rs. What's really odd, is even if a do a disc to disk copy of a purchased CD (to keep the original as a backup), even that isn't playing. I've used Roxio Easy Media Creator 8 & 9. I'm upgrading to v10 and am going to try that, but don't expect it to work.

Picky CD players can be affected by the brand of disc used. Try a different brand, or even try to slow the write speed of the CD-R to get a more accurate write.

Thanks for all the tips guys. I was finally able to get a few consistently recognizable CDs made using Roxio Easy Media Creator 10. Specifically, the "Easy Audio CD" app it has. I burned then to LightScribe discs and made burned a graphic into the label side, which is pretty cool.
