Del Sol door handle problem

My 96 del sol driver side door handle seems to be disconnected. Can't get into the car once the door is closed, as the handle is all floppy.
Is there something I can do, or do I need a mechanic? Is the door panel hard to take off and put back on?
Was just wondering if this is a common defect or not.
Tx.

It might just be disconnected. Removing your interior door panel isn't really hard. 1 or 2 screws and then just pull. It's mostly held on with clips.

i got the same problem with mines. i popped the panel and unscrewed the door handle. there's a spring hooked on behind the handle, either that's loose or the plastic piece that holds it broke off which is what happened to mines, and I lost the spring. I'm ordering a new door handle...i'll let you know how it goes once i get it.

Yup, got it done and it works better than before.

I had the same problem on a 93 I just purchase a month ago. Had to remove the door panel to get the outside latch removed. The linkage has a pivot pin pressed into the latch body. The pivot pin had siezed and the operation of the latch had torn it out of the latch body. Left everything flopping around.
Lubed and freed up the pin and then Gorilla Glued it back into the body. Re-installed and re-assembled in about three hours (giving the glue enough time to set).
